Mylio, based in Seattle Washington, was founded in 2012 by David Vaskevitch, a former Chief Technology Officer at Microsoft. His vision was to gather up images scattered all over the place and across different devices and bring them back together again to help people tell the stories of their lives and to share them with others.
The Mylio app and service allow its users to organize all their photos in one library that is accessible on all their devices.
Mylio, with our full support, has published a blog that looks at the issue of how many photos are captured annually and what should be done to protect them. Many statistics from our 2021 Worldwide Image Capture Forecast are included in the story.
Highlights include:
- In 2020, 1.12 trillion photos were taken globally, a decline of 21% from 2019 due mainly to the COVID-19 pandemic
- In 2021, 1.4 trillion photos are expected to be captured globally
- In 2021, mobile phones will account for almost 91% of all photo captured
- In 2023, there will be almost 10 trillion photos stored
Mylio’s message is that it is vital to organize and protect all these photos that are scattered across devices, electronic media, the cloud, and in print so that they are available to easily share with others today and tomorrow.
